These days, fashion trends and the free expression of self is important to teenagers. I remember when my daughters went through the “gothic” stage, and I patiently waited on them to just grow tired of it rather than tell them they could not wear too much black eyeliner and buy XL hoodies to hide under.
They eventually did change their attire and have grown into strong, drug - free women who are also mothers now to my beautiful grandchildren.
But there were times that I worried about their choice of friends, and usually this was because the things they wore were just crazy. Their friends expressed themselves very uniquely, to say the least.
I was impressed to learn that their friends did not partake of drugs of any kind, however, and that they really did just enjoy a free expression of uniqueness in their appearance.
Throughout their teenage years, I learned that looks can truly be deceiving.
I’m happy I stuck it out, bit my tongue, and gave their friends the benefit of the doubt.
fucking up your high....because we care
